Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing) is the process by which electrical appliances are checked to see if they are safe. To be able to carry out PAT Testing yourself you need to be deemed competent.

We provide comprehensive training courses in Portable Appliance Testing. We schedule regular 1-Day PAT Training Courses. Our PAT Training Courses are held in Dublin at Maldron Hotel, Newlands Cross, Dublin 22, Cork at Radisson Hotel, Little Island Business Park, Little Island, Galway at Clayton Hotel,  Ballybrit and in Portlaoise at the Maldron Hotel just off the M7 at Exit 17 – Portlaoise. Our training locations are conveniently located for those based in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Kilkenny, Galway or Waterford.

Our Portable Appliance Testing Training Courses are carried out by fully qualified & experienced training instructors, and will enable you to carry out the practical inspection and testing of electrical equipment to comply with all current Health & Safety legislation. You’ll also learn all there is to know about the administrative responsibilities for the maintenance of electrical equipment.

PAT Testing is regulated by the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 in Ireland. This legislation is implemented under Statutory Instrument S.I. No.299 of 2007, which came into force in November 2007.

Course Content

PAT Training will cover both manual and theoretical aspects of PAT testing, and trainees will receive a Certificate of Attendance on completion of the one-day course. Our one-day course covers:

  • The principles and practices of portable appliance testing
  • How to create a safe system of work
  • The requirement for accident prevention and control
  • The process and application of PAT Testing, using PAT instruments
  • IEE code of practice for service, inspection and testing of electrical equipment
