Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing) is the process by which electrical appliances are checked to see if they are safe. To be able to carry out PAT Testing yourself you need to be deemed competent.

Our PAT Training Courses can be delivered remotely, at your place of work or at one of our scheduled courses in Cork, Dublin or Galway. The course will take a full day to complete and are carried out  by our highly qualified training instructors with extensive experience in their field.

Partaking in this PAT Training course will give you an in depth understanding of what PAT testing is, the legal conditions to PAT testing, various testing methods involved in PAT testing as well as the applicable equipment needed. Our course is very reasonably priced at €350 per person or group rates can be arranged for on-site courses.

Our Portable Appliance Testing Training Courses are carried out by fully qualified & experienced training instructors, and will enable you to carry out the practical inspection and testing of electrical equipment to comply with all current Health & Safety legislation. You’ll also learn all there is to know about the administrative responsibilities for the maintenance of electrical equipment.

PAT Testing is regulated by the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 in Ireland. This legislation is implemented under Statutory Instrument S.I. No.299 of 2007, which came into force in November 2007.

PAT Training will cover both manual and theoretical aspects of PAT testing, and trainees will receive a Certificate of Attendance on completion of the one-day course. Our one-day course covers:

  • The principles and practices of portable appliance testing
  • How to create a safe system of work
  • The requirement for accident prevention and control
  • The process and application of PAT Testing, using PAT instruments
  • IEE code of practice for service, inspection and testing of electrical equipment
