The M-Bus interface, designed to be mounted on a DIN rail and occupying one module space, facilitates the connection of an energy meter to the M-Bus network. This widely adopted standard allows for the remote reading of various consumption meters and sensors. The interface collects measurement data from the energy meter through an infrared port located on the meter’s side. It derives its power from the bus, meaning only the bus wiring (a two-wire standard telephone cable) is needed, with no extra wiring required. The interface is compatible with both single-phase and three-phase energy meters.
Measurements
- The M-Bus interface supports remote reading of all key registers, including energy, power, voltage, current, frequency, and power factor.
- Status bytes are accessible, providing information on the energy meter’s operational status, such as running tariff nominal and voltage and current range overflow.
Commands
- The interface allows for command transmission via M-Bus to reset energy accounts.
- Commands are only enabled for specific measuring instrument models.
