The KNX Interface, designed for a DIN rail mounting and occupying just one module in width, is crafted for the integration of an energy meter with a KNX bus. This bus system is prevalent in both domestic and commercial building management. The interface operates by acquiring data from the energy meter through an infrared port situated on the energy meter’s side and draws power directly from the bus. Connection requirements are minimal, necessitating only the bus wiring (twisted pair) without the need for additional cables. This interface is compatible with various energy meters, including single-phase and the three-phase DRB-80-3P model.
Configuration Details
Equipped with an application programme for ETS3, this interface facilitates the configuration of communication settings within KNX systems. ETS3 represents the benchmark configuration software for these systems.
Measurement Capabilities
The interface can handle a wide array of data from the energy meter, including:
- Active and reactive energy
- Voltage and current measurements
- Types of power: active, reactive, and apparent
- Power factor and frequency readings
Additionally, it supports multiple transmission modes such as on-demand and automatic, which operates based on predefined energy increments (e.g., a notification every 10 KWh). It also provides status bytes that offer insights into the meter’s condition and the current load, including aspects like load type, tariff in operation, and energy directionality (import/export). Note that specific measurements and status details are only accessible in selected meter models.
Voltage Monitoring
The interface allows for the setting of voltage thresholds through ETS3, and issues alerts over the bus if these thresholds are exceeded.
Energy Management
Commands can be dispatched via the bus to reset energy tallies on the interface, a feature available solely on certain models of measuring instruments.
