The Klauke EK 50/5 gives your team the ability to crimp copper and aluminium cable lugs, connectors, and end sleeves from 6 to 240 mm² on site, with 50 kN of crimping force behind every connection. At 2.4 kg with battery, it is light enough for overhead work and tight cable trenches. Available with Makita 18V (CFM) or Bosch 18V (CFB) battery, so it fits the platform your site vans already carry. Made in Germany by Gustav Klauke GmbH.

We are authorised Klauke distributors in Ireland. Call our technical team on 057 866 2162 for pricing and availability, or send us an enquiry.

CFM or CFB: choosing your battery platform

The only difference between these two models is the battery system. The CFM runs on Makita 18V lithium-ion batteries (compatible with BL1815, BL1830, BL1840 and BL1850). The CFB runs on Bosch 18V Professional batteries. Crimping force, die compatibility, head design, and every other specification are identical. If your electricians already carry Makita on site, go CFM. If they run Bosch, go CFB. No need to invest in a second charger ecosystem.

Compatible K5-series crimping dies

The EK 50/5 accepts K5-series interchangeable crimping dies, sold separately. Selecting the correct die depends on the type and cross-section of the cable lug, connector, or end sleeve you are crimping.

Die series Application Range
HR 5 Tubular cable lugs and connectors, Cu (standard) 6–240 mm²
HD 5 Compression cable lugs acc. to DIN 46235, Cu 6–185 mm²
HA 5 Aluminium compression cable lugs acc. to DIN 10–150 mm²
HF 5 Tubular cable lugs for fine stranded conductors 10–50 mm²
HAE 5 Cable end sleeves (wire ferrules) 10–95 mm²
HAES 5 Trapezoidal end sleeves, fine stranded conductors 10–95 mm²
HC 5 C-type clamps 16–35 mm²

Key features

Klauke’s Intelligent Pressing System (IPS) monitors each crimp cycle electronically, confirming that the required force has been reached and the dies have fully closed. If a crimp is incomplete, the tool provides visual and audible error signals, which matters when you need quality documentation for commissioning sign-off. All crimp data can be read via Bluetooth and recorded through the Klauke i-press® software for project-based reporting and traceability.

On site, the one-button operating concept keeps things simple. Automatic retraction after each completed crimp speeds up repetitive termination work. The rotatable closed head (330°+) lets you position the tool in confined panel boards and cable joints, and an LED illuminates the work area in low-light conditions.

Frequently asked questions

What is the crimping range of the Klauke EK 50/5?

6 to 240 mm² for standard tubular cable lugs and connectors (HR 5 dies). For compression cable lugs to DIN 46235, the range is 6 to 185 mm² (HD 5 dies). Cable end sleeves are covered from 10 to 95 mm² (HAE 5 dies). The exact range depends on the die series selected.

What is the difference between the Klauke EK 50/5 CFM and CFB?

Battery platform. The CFM uses Makita 18V batteries; the CFB uses Bosch 18V Professional batteries. All other specifications, including crimping force, die compatibility, and features, are identical.

Can Powerpoint Engineering service Klauke crimping tools?

Yes. Our INAB-accredited calibration laboratory (ISO/IEC 17025:2017) can service and verify Klauke crimping tools. The manufacturer specifies servicing every 3 years or 10,000 operations, whichever comes first, and the tool’s display tracks the countdown to your next service interval.
