Fluke 1653B Multifunction Installation Tester
The Fluke 1653B is a multifunction installation tester for verifying the safety of fixed wiring in domestic, commercial and industrial installations to IEC 60364, HD 384 and the relevant local standards, including the ETCI National Rules for Electrical Installations in Ireland. It carries the full core test set of the 1650 series, continuity, insulation resistance, loop impedance, prospective fault current and RCD testing, and adds on-board memory, earth electrode resistance and phase sequence testing for professional trouble-shooters who need more than a basic certification tester.
Supplied by Powerpoint Engineering as an authorised Fluke distributor, the 1653B is rugged and lightweight at under 1.3 kg, survives a 1 metre drop and ships with a padded neck strap and hard case for daily site use.

The dual display captures loop impedance and prospective fault current together, which saves more than 50% of loop testing time, and a zero adapter compensates the test leads and mains cord for reliable, repeatable voltage measurement and resistance readings.

What does the Fluke 1653B add over the 1652C?
The 1653B adds on-board memory for storing and downloading results, earth electrode resistance measurement and phase sequence testing. The core certification tests, including insulation, continuity, loop impedance and RCD, are shared across both models.
Can the Fluke 1653B test type B RCDs?
No. Type B (smooth DC sensitive) RCD testing is a 1654B feature. The 1653B covers standard AC and type A RCD testing, so choose the 1654B if your work includes type B devices.
Does the Fluke 1653B need regular calibration?
Yes. To keep results traceable and defensible for certification, the instrument should be calibrated on a set interval. Our in-house laboratory calibrates and repairs Fluke installation testers and issues traceable certificates.
