Fluke 1652C Multifunction Installation Tester

The Fluke 1652C is a multifunction installation tester for verifying the safety of fixed wiring in domestic, commercial and industrial installations. In one instrument it covers the core tests an electrician needs to certify an installation to IEC 60364, HD 384 and the relevant local standards, including the ETCI National Rules for Electrical Installations in Ireland and the 17th Edition in the UK. It measures continuity, insulation resistance, loop impedance, prospective fault current and RCD performance.

Supplied by Powerpoint Engineering as an authorised Fluke distributor, the 1652C is built for daily contract use. It is rugged and lightweight at under 1.3 kg, survives a 1 metre drop and comes with a padded neck strap to free your hands for all-day testing. A rotary dial and clear menu keep function selection fast on site.

What the Fluke 1652C tests

  • Insulation resistance, with test voltages up to 1000 V
  • Continuity of protective and bonding conductors
  • Loop impedance and prospective fault current (PEFC and PSC), shown together on the dual display
  • RCD testing, including a high current loop mode and non-trip mode for loop tests on RCD-protected circuits
  • Fast L-N, L-PE and N-PE voltage measurement through the mains cord, with no need to change connections

Features that speed up testing

The dual display measures loop impedance and prospective fault current in parallel, which cuts loop testing time by more than half compared with single-reading loop testers. A zero adapter compensates the test leads and mains cord for accurate, repeatable readings, and the Earth Volt touchpad warns you when it detects a raised earth voltage above 50 V, a sign of a potentially dangerous fault.

FAQs

Does the Fluke 1652C meet Irish certification requirements?

Yes. It tests to IEC 60364 and HD 384, which underpin the ETCI National Rules for Electrical Installations, and it covers continuity, insulation resistance, loop impedance, prospective fault current and RCD testing needed to certify domestic, commercial and industrial installations.

What is the advantage of the dual display?

The dual display shows loop impedance and prospective fault current at the same time, so you capture both readings in one operation. Fluke states this saves more than 50% of test time compared with single-reading loop testers.

Should I choose the 1652C, 1653B or 1654B?

Choose the 1652C for straightforward everyday certification testing. The 1653B adds result memory for downloading and reporting, and the 1654B adds RCD type B testing and extended memory for the most demanding professional use.
